Plus Size Clothing Stores

Shopping can be fun or it can be a nightmare. For me it all depends on the store. If a certain store doesn’t often carry what is considered “plus size” (usually size 16 and up) then I already know my shopping experience is going to be terrible. I am a size 16-18 and shopping can be one of the most aggravating things I have ever experienced. I mean how hard it is to make women’s sizes consistent for one and available for two. Each store has its own sizing system and not all stores carry the same sizes. It is sad to see that stores still falsely believe that the average American woman is a size 0. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with you if you are in fact a size 0 I am just expressing my disapproval of how stores carry sizes. Over the last couple of years I have found stores that actually carry my size and even bigger sizes. Here are my top 5 BEST clothing stores to shop at.

1.) JC Penney

JC Penney has been my go to store to get my clothes at for probably the last 5 or 6 years. They tend to have bigger sizes as well as the small sizes and they are always offering their clothes on sale. JC Penney always has cute clothes and a good selection for both men and women. They have tons of different styles to pick from so that you can be comfortable in what you are wearing.

2.) Kohl’s

Kohl’s is another great store that I shop at that tends to have bigger sizes. Kohl’s isn’t as likely to have the bigger sizes in stock all the time, but the fact that they even sell sizes above 14 makes them a good store in my book. Kohl’s just like JC Penney runs sales all year-long so you can get good clothes at a good price.

3.) Maurice’s

Maurice’s is a great store to get clothes at. They are one of the few stores I have found that have their own plus size section which is great! It is so encouraging to find a store you that you know will have your size. Maurice’s has a great selection of clothes that are super fun and cute.

4.) Dress Barn

Dress Barn is a fancier store but also offers plus sizes. Contrary to the name Dress Barn doesn’t just sell dresses, although that is the majority of their clothing items. The dresses range from summer dresses to super fancy dresses, so you’ll be able to find one that suites your style. They also sell sweaters, top, jeans, etc.

5.) Torrid

Torrid is the last store on this list, but it’s certainly not the least. Torrid is a great store because it caters specifically to plus size women, with their slogan of “Fashions for sizes 10 to 30.” I think it is great for a store to cater to plus size women because normal store it is so hard to find plus sizes. The only downside to Torrid is that it is a little pricey, but to get what you want in the size you want it’s worth it.

Well I hope you enjoy my top 5 best clothing stores to shop at!
